Artificial intelligence will sell you your next car

Many claim that the advancement of technology will not only change usages and customs, but also threaten the validity and development of certain professions and trades. In the automotive world, today there is already an AI application related to the sale of cars, capable of offering you a very convincing model. Find out how it works below.

What animals would be the brands of cars? Was the question posed by the Swiss firm Gowago, a car leasing startup, seeking to attract users through different marketing content. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT they gave him the answer, one that went viral.

The advancement of AI has become an effective tool for certain tasks, and it is even said to pose a danger for certain jobs. A study by OpenAI (the creators of ChatGPT) mentions that 80% of workers in the United States can be affected by at least 10% of the work they do.

In the automotive world, one of the short and medium term applications that experts are considering is the sale of vehicles. Companies such as Phyron, a Swedish startup whose AI is able to advertise a car for sale on its own . And that, according to its creators, it will do so as efficiently as a human salesperson.

“It’s only a matter of time before technology reaches a point where AI can approach the way a salesman offers cars offline” says Johan Sundstrand, CEO and co-founder of Phyron.

“The speed at which self-learning software is being developed and adopted by retailers means that a fully competent AI-powered sales bot is as close as 2025 “, he adds.

How it works?

The basis of the Phyron software is a special language created by the company itself called ‘Large Language Model’, through which the AI received training focused on the commercial description of automobiles.

Thus, and using the data of the car in question provided by the manufacturer, can compose texts explaining their characteristics or giving specific answers to customer questions.

The most incredible thing about the software, however, is that is able to use car footage to compose promotional videos himself with introductions, purchase arguments, calls to action and farewells. All this, with the common thread of a voice that sounds almost natural in four tones to choose from (two masculine and two feminine) and in more than 22 possible languages.

For your promotional creations, Phyron AI you can use several different data sources , from a scanned text of 5-5,000 words to a scanned printed document. It is even able to connect to the manufacturer’s site to download information.

Swedish software can process an unlimited number of videos at the same time, taking about 10 minutes to process all of them, publish live at a single merchant or online ranked auction site, or network-wide if necessary.

If you change a detail, such as a price or promotion, the data source is updated and the video replays automatically.

In the opinion of Phyron officials, the great advantage of its AI is the saving of time. On the one hand, the fact of being able to self-produce one’s own videos concentrates the work of several hours or days of a human audiovisual team into work of a few hours, even minutes.

On the other hand, they are convinced that these videos manage to formalize a sale much more quickly than an advertising spot in a traditional dealership. According to the company, cars promoted online with Phyron get 50% more online traffic and sell 3-5 days sooner .

Therefore, a new question arises: Do you think AI could sell cars as efficiently as a human salesman?

We asked the expert in Artificial Intelligence, Carla Vairetti professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the Universidad de Los Andes, ISCI researcher, on this subject and this was his answer.

“The success of AI in this type of sales will depend on the idiosyncrasy of the country. In a country where cars are bought mainly online and based on technical specifications, the AI will surely be as efficient as a human. If the benefit of automation is transferred to the customer, i.e. if I get the car I want to buy a little cheaper if the AI sells it to me, I may choose this path”.

“However, in countries like ours where car sales are so dependent on one’s experience in the car business, driving the car or just getting in it, I don’t think the same efficiency is reached. since the process is generally accompanied by a salesperson with very good persuasive skills”, he specifies.

Only time will tell then whether or not AI is able to replace humans when it comes to convincingly selling a car.
