Pablo Lemoine, head coach of the national team, has decided on the players who will represent the country in the competition which starts on September 10. There are still three places left which will be defined once the previous meetings are over.
The mystery is lifted. The Cóndores already have their chosen ones for France 2023. In a press conference held today, Pablo Lemoine, coach of the national team, announced the names of 30 of the 33 selected who will go to the World Rugby XV.
An event that will count Chile for the first time among the competitors and that reflects the systematic progress that the oval has had in the country with the arrival of the Uruguayan coach. Now, after five years of work, he has delivered the largest payroll during his time in Santiago.
Obviously the heavyweights of the team are present. Unsurprisingly, the most iconic names on the list are those of Martín Sigren (team captain), Rodrigo Fernández (winner of the 2022 try of the year) and Matías Dittus (second division French champion with Perigueux Athletic Club).
Other key players in the system who will also take part in the World Cup duels will be Javier Eissmann, Clemente Saavedra, Ignacio Silva, José Ignacio Larenas, Santiago Videla, Matías Garafulic, Francisco Urroz, Augusto Böhme, Pablo Huete and Marcelo Torrealba.
Also present will be Iñaki Ayarza, Javier Carrasco, Lukas Carvallo, Pablo Casas, Tomás Dussaillant, Alfonso Escobar, Diego Escobar, Nicolás Garafulic, Iñaki Gurruchaga, Esteban Inostroza, Salvador Lues, Raimundo Martínez, Santiago Pedrero, Domingo Saavedra, Augusto Sarmiento, Franco Velarde and Benjamin Videla.
There are still three places available, which will be delivered next week, once the team has completed its preparations for France.
It should be noted that this group of selected, in addition to the personnel of the Cóndores and the executives of the Federation, will travel to France on three different flights, starting the trip on August 29, three days after the last preparatory duel, where they face to Argentina XV in Temuco.
Chile is part of Group A of the World Cup in France, facing four nations that are in the Top 15 of the planet. They will debut against Japan and then they will have duels against England, Los Pumas and Samoa.
