From movie stars to British royalty: The list of VIP guests who cheered on Lionel Messi in Los Angeles

Inter Miami took on LAFC in California which resulted in dozens of celebrities attending the game to see the Argentine. Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez and Magic Johnson were some of them.

Messimania has taken hold of the United States. Every match the Argentinian plays for Inter Miami is sold out and even celebrities line up to see him. Such was the case with the game between Team Florida and LAFC Los Angeles, where the host club released a long list of VIP guests who requested to attend Banc of California Stadium.

In total, there were 39 names from different fields such as theater, music scene and sports. All present to follow a Messi who, even if he did not convert on Sunday evening, delivered two assists to Inter, who ended up beating the last MLS champions 3-1.

Among the actors, the most outstanding characters were Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez and Owen Wilson , who were even targeted during the game. The 2016 Best Actor Oscar sat in one of the stadium’s boxes, while the 31-year-old actress was accompanied by a large group of friends.

Wilson, for his part, was in one of the areas closest to the pitch, even allowing him to share a moment with Messi after the match was over, who was signing shirts for the actor’s children. Also on the guest list were Tom Holland, known for his role as Spiderman, Gerard Butler, star of the movie 300 and Edward Norton, co-star of Fight Club.

The LAFC document also details a long list of athletes who have requested to attend the duel, among which stand out LeBron James, who previously traveled to Miami to witness Messi’s debut Philadelphia 76ers James Harden and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts.

was also Magic Johnson, historic leader of the Lakers and Will Ferrell, renowned comedian who are part of the owners of LAFC.

But the names that have marked the writing the most are those of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. The couple had already been spotted Saturday night at Beyoncé’s concert in Los Angeles and they were expected to repeat their appearance at the MLS meeting.

Something that ultimately didn’t fully materialize and that was that the official transmissions did show Princess Diana’s son, but not his wife, who was one of the most recognized actresses in the United States over the course of the last decade.
