The All Blacks snapped a historic losing streak in France

The New Zealand team stumbled on their debut in the group stage and seriously broke an old record.

France gave the big blow at the beginning of the Rugby World Cup and, as a Saint-Denis local, beat the All Blacks 27-13. The importance of the result can also be seen in an indisputable statistic: This is the first time a New Zealand team has crashed out of a World Cup group stage.

Indeed, it is the team’s eighth loss in the competition’s history contested since 1987, surely a year in which the All Blacks were crowned. In 1991 they reached the semifinals and lost to Australia 16-6, in 1995 they were finalists and lost 15-12 to South Africa, in 1999 they reached the semis (43-31 with France) and lost for third place in South Africa (22-18), in 2003 they again entered the semis (22-10 against Australia), in 2007 in the quarterfinals (20-18 with France) and in 2019 in the semis (19-7 with England) .

The match for group A of the Rugby World Cup

This result leaves France in a better position in the fight for first place in the group, where they share Namibia, Italy and Uruguay and where the first two will continue the race, qualifying for the quarterfinals. The African team will be a chance for revenge for the Oceanic team, when they face them next friday the 15th.
