The English won 26 to 23 against those led by the Australian Michael Cheika whose initial strategy did not work and began to fall 13-0 at the quarter hour mark.

Despite this bad start, the South American team woke up and turned the situation around at the start of the second half. However, England struck again through Theo Dan and took the lead again 23-17.

Already in the second half, the experienced Nicolás Sánchez had equalized, but missed the penalty. After that, the Argentinian, who is playing his last World Cup, finished in tears, in a game that could have changed the duel. Ultimately, the Europeans won the match with a score of 26-23.

Marcos Kremer, one of the figures of the trans-Andean team, did not hide his disappointment at not having obtained third place: “The feelings were a little bitter, I know that we did not play badly throughout throughout the match, but we had some weak moments.
