England takes revenge for what happened in the semi-final. The European team, who faced Los Cóndores in the group stage, beat Argentina’s Los Pumas to take third place in the Rugby World Cup. at the Stade de France, in Paris.

The English won 26 to 23 against those led by the Australian Michael Cheika whose initial strategy did not work and began to fall 13-0 at the quarter hour mark.

A reaction that did not reach

Despite this bad start, the South American team woke up and turned the situation around at the start of the second half. However, England struck again through Theo Dan and took the lead again 23-17.

Already in the second half, the experienced Nicolás Sánchez had equalized, but missed the penalty. After that, the Argentinian, who is playing his last World Cup, finished in tears, in a game that could have changed the duel. Ultimately, the Europeans won the match with a score of 26-23.

Marcos Kremer, one of the figures of the trans-Andean team, did not hide his disappointment at not having obtained third place: “The feelings were a little bitter, I know that we did not play badly throughout throughout the match, but we had some weak moments. It was a final, we knew it was going to end in the last minutes, it happened for them. If something different happened there, we would play 30 more minutes and we would beat them there. It was lost, it hurts, we have to chew it up and move on.

“Sometimes the team performed well, but sometimes not. I think we lacked experience and finishing in the last meters. Right now it’s difficult for me to talk about it, but I’m sure the team gave everything and none of my teammates held anything back,” concluded the striker.
