50 years after the premiere of William Friedkin’s legendary film, the actress is stepping away from Hollywood as she focuses her energies on saving animals. An experience she had in the 80s changed her life forever and took her away from the film industry.
Linda Blair I already had some experience in front of the camera , because he had recorded commercials and acted in two films. However, at the age of 13, at the start of filming The Exorcist In Washington and New York, the young woman entered new territories.
Raised in a Protestant family, Blair had a particular conception of the evil force at the center of the film directed by William Friedkin. “We weren’t talking about the devil, we weren’t talking about punishment. We talked about kindness, being good to others, trying to do our best, forgiveness, love. So, for me, the devil was like Frankenstein,” he explained a few years ago.

After the premiere of the horror film in December 1973, Blair would forever be identified as Regan MacNeil , the girl possessed by Pazuzu and the most difficult case for Father Merrin. As a result, questions about his life and the conditions in which the film was shot multiplied.
Amid this revelation, she was nominated for an Oscar and began working with some of the world’s biggest stars. There was no other young figure as big as her in 1970s Hollywood.
But one day, their priorities changed. In 1984, a dog he had saved was stolen. “When you lose something and you have no control, it’s devastating. . Whether it’s a family member or a friend, a loss is a loss. I have suffered many losses in my life, both human and animal, and I know what it is. This is what pushes me to make a change and participate.
This experience raised awareness and inspired her to begin working in animal rescue, until she created her own organization in 2003, the Lindar Blair WorldHeart Foundation.

He has been working for animal rights for over two decades. , focusing on sterilization and avoiding euthanasia. A goal that he says became more ambitious after the pandemic as resources for shelters declined.
In the midst of this work, she was contacted by director David Gordon Green and producer Jason Blum to do particular work on The Exorcist: the believersfirst part of a new trilogy in the saga, which marked the return of Ellen Burstyn in the shoes of Chris MacNeil.
The duo He called her to give her technical advice and will work alongside Lidya Jewett and Olivia O’Neill, two young actresses who play the possessed girls in the plot.
“We had everything available to them in case they needed or wanted to talk to someone. I knew following in my footsteps (would be) a difficult journey and I wanted them to take their own journey. I just wanted to be taken care of,” Blair said.
Later, Gordon Green and Blum issued another invitation: to play Regan again for the first time since the sequel released in 1977. An offer he accepted mainly because of his special connection with Burstyn, and which he made during a day of filming.

Following The Exorcist: the believers is scheduled for release in late 2025, but as of yet there are no details regarding casting or plot. Would you be available to play your iconic character again?
Blair has a special condition. “If the public wants me to come back, they need to help me change the situation for animals now,” he responded to Entertainment Weekly. “I hope the public understands that. “I want to go back to work, but I won’t leave my animal friends.”
