Conflict in the Trump clan: Melania and Ivanka would have experienced a “cold war” during the presidency

The tycoon’s wife and daughter, details a new book, would have competed for the role of “first lady”.

Melania and Ivanka Trump, a new book says, reportedly spent the four years of Donald Trump’s presidency embroiled in a power struggle. The dispute, that would have put the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law into rivalry was linked to the way the two people close to the president wanted to attract media attention, overshadowing the other.

The conflict, which began when Donald Trump became president, began when Melania did not immediately move into the White House. At this moment, It is Ivanka who would have assumed the “functions” of First Lady . The daughter, from Donald’s previous marriage to model Ivana Marie Trump, then took on the role of “adviser” to the president.

The internal aspects of this conflict are detailed in the book “American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden,” published recently by journalist Katie Rogers. The author, who was a White House correspondent, explains that the two would have competed to gain Donald’s trust.

According to this book, Melania would not have moved to the White House since she hoped to stay with her son Barron in New York, so that he could finish his studies. This is what led Ivanka to take on the duties of “first lady”. Ivanka, Rogers notes, wanted to virtually eliminate the role of First Lady: The idea would be to reorganize the official residence so that it serves “the entire first family, not just the first lady.”

To try to fight the shadow that Ivanka cast on him, Melania reportedly made fun of her by calling her “The Princess.” According to the book, the two women avoided each other, focusing on a “silent competition for media coverage.”

The book states that, even without fulfilling her “traditional duties” as First Lady, Melania was obsessed with the public’s perception of her. Constantly looking for mentions in the press and on Twitter “to see what the press, her detractors and her supporters are saying about her.”

One of her most controversial moments, outside and inside the family, was when in 2018 Melania went to visit migrant children detained at the border with Mexico in 2018. This that day, Melania wore a green jacket with the written motto of “I don’t care, do I?” . According to Rogers’ book, the message was intended for Ivanka, while on other occasions the president’s wife assured that it was intended “for people and left-wing media who criticize me.”

After the Trump presidency, Melania reportedly revisited her prenuptial agreement with Donald Trump, renegotiating them as the Republican nominee’s legal conflicts threatened her finances. This, knowing that the former president was ordered to pay $350 million for a civil fraud case, and another 80 million in a defamation case.

Since then, Melania and Ivanka have been absent from the former president’s campaign to take back the White House in November. According to the Page Six portal, andThis would be linked to the revision of Melania and Donald’s prenuptial agreement, that they got married in 2005, and that they had already made a first assessment in 2016.

This time, Melania would not set the conditions for a possible divorce, but instead wants to “obtain greater trust for her son, Barron”, and increase the fortune and current number of properties of the two. If they reach an agreement, the portal indicates, Melania is reportedly campaigning alongside Trump in the November presidential election.
