The families of the injured and victims are demanding explanations: they denounce that the route was in poor condition and that the Molina Unión bus was carrying more passengers than it had initially declared.
The Libertadores Highway, which connects the regions of Ayacucho and Huancavelica in Peru, has been the scene of a tragic accident which left 25 dead and more than 20 injured. They were all passengers on the Molina Unión bus that was traveling near kilometer 205 of the highway in the early hours of Tuesday, July 16.
For reasons that are under investigation, The bus derailed and fell into a 200-metre-deep ravine.
After the roar, the locals came to the rescue and called the Peruvian police and firefighters to help the injured. It was in this case that some recorded the fatal accident, since The bus was completely destroyed.
What do we know about the bus that fell into a ravine in Peru?
As reported Infobae , Two hours after the accident, the medical team arrived to help those injured in the bus accident.
Some of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. But apparently, the medical team was not enough to treat everyone at the same time. Shortly after, the Regional Health Directorate of Ayacucho issued a statement saying that it had mobilized more ambulances from different Peruvian cities to reinforce assistance.
But during the accident and the waiting time, the head of the Road Protection Division of the National Police of Peru, Rolando Valderrama, reported that out of a total of 60 passengers travelling on the bus, there were 25 deaths aged between 22 and 56.

According to the list managed by the company Molina Unión, The bus left with 39 people on board. However, police said there were 60 passengers, so it is believed that more people boarded during the journey.
Relatives of the injured and deceased are demanding explanations from the company. However, they say they have received no response.
Furthermore, The Libertadores road, where the accident occurred, had been in poor condition for some time. Although the efforts of the different governors who have passed through the Ayacucho region have allowed some work to be carried out, Peruvians denounce that the conditions of the road are deficient.
He Minister of Transportation of Peru Raul Perez Reyes said maintenance work was being carried out on the road and regretted the deaths.
He also stressed that “We need to continue to monitor the issue of speed management of vehicles, whether they are licensed to drive, whether they have a technical inspection and whether drivers respect their driving times.”
