According to Cadem’s 5C study, 95% believe that Chileans are addicted to their phones, but only 37% identify with this description.
Smartphones have been revolutionizing our lives for years. That’s why a new edition of the 5C study of Cadem sought to explore Chileans’ perceptions and preferences regarding the smart phones .
The report, which involved 700 people from all socio-economic levels and regions of the country, revealed some interesting data about the brands people prefer when choosing a smartphone.
What are the favorite smartphone brands?
According to Cadem’s 5C Workshop 82% of Chileans admitted to owning a smartphone, while 18% said they did not.
The brand that was crowned favorite was Samsung (41%) . They followed Apple (17%) , Motorola (14%) , Xiaomi (12%) , Huawei (6%) , Honor (3%) And Alive (3%) .
And can we say that Chileans are addicted to smartphones? 95% of respondents think so. However, only 37% define themselves as addicted to mobile phones.
Some of the activities that Chileans usually use on these devices are sending or receiving emails (78%), talking on the phone (72%), liking Instagram (51%), sending voice notes on WhatsApp (48%) and even watching series or movies (45%).

The Cadem report also reveals the times when the telephone is used: Most use it in bed (76%) Other occasions mentioned were in a waiting room (69%), in front of the television (46%), on public transport (46%), in the bathroom (44%) and in the parking lot while waiting for someone (37%).
Regarding the age at which children can have a smartphone, 51% believe that between 13 and 15 years is appropriate, that is, among those who have children. Meanwhile, 33% assure that it could be between 10 and 12 years.
In addition, 82% of Chileans believe that cell phone use should not be allowed in classrooms and 97% assure that, in the case of children, social networks should require parental consent to create accounts.
