Scottie Scheffler is on the brink of surpassing Tiger Woods as the PGA Tour's all-time money leader after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The 30-year-old world No 1 claimed a $3.6m winner's check after cruising to an eight-shot victory at TPC Southwind, recording the largest winning margin in the 68-year history of the tournament.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship serves as the opening event of the PGA Tour's season-ending FedEx Cup Playoffs, held annually in Memphis, Tennessee. Victory on Sunday ended a seven-month wait for Scheffler's second win of the 2026 season, pushing his earnings for the year to $20.5m and bringing his career total to $119.96m over eight years as a professional.

Closing the gap on career earnings

Scheffler now trails Woods by barely $1m on the all-time money list, despite competing in 210 fewer tournaments than the 15-time major champion.

Over the course of his eight year career, his on-course earnings have now reached $119.96m

Since turning professional in 1996, Woods has competed in 378 events, winning 82 PGA Tour titles and accumulating $120,999,166 in prize money during a record-breaking career. By contrast, Scheffler has made 168 starts since turning professional, averaging more than $700,000 for every PGA Tour event he plays.

Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy sits third on the all-time PGA Tour money list, having earned $116.5m over his career.

FedEx Cup playoff schedule

Scheffler could move past Woods as early as this week when the tour heads to Bellerive Country Club for the $20m BMW Championship, where the winner receives another $3.6m payout.

The BMW Championship forms the second stage of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, bringing together the top 50 players in the points standings in Town and Country, Missouri. Scheffler enters the tournament as defending champion and bookmakers' favorite.

His victory at TPC Southwind has already guaranteed him a $23m bonus by securing top spot in the season-long points race with an event to spare.

The three-event playoff series concludes at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with the Tour Championship, which features a $40m prize purse and awards $10m to the winner.

While Scheffler approaches Woods in financial earnings, he still trails Woods' total of 82 tour victories. Victory on Sunday was the 21st PGA Tour title of Scheffler's career.
