Schwentek says she won’t make Billie Jean King Cup final

The world’s first racket Iga Schwentek said she wouldn’t help. Poland national team in the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup due to a difficult competition schedule.

The final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup will take place from November 8 to 13 in Glasgow. The WTA final tournament, where the 21-year-old tennis player was selected, will end on November 7 in the United States.

— I’ve thought about it a lot and discussed it with the team, but I won’t be able to play in the Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow. That makes me sad. It’s a shame, because I play for the Polish national team as soon as possible and I always do my best. And hoped to do it again at the end of the season.

Disappointed that the tennis governing bodies could not reach an agreement on such a fundamental issue as the tournament calendar. They only gave us one day to fly and change time zones. This situation is dangerous for our health and can lead to injuries. I will talk to the WTA and the ITF to change something,” Schwentek wrote on the social network.

Sventek has won seven WTA titles this season, including the US Open and Roland Garros.

The Russian women’s team – the current winner of the Billie Jean King Cup – misses the tournament due to the decision of the ITF.
