The competition in Glasgow will begin the day after the end of the Final tournament in Fort Worth, USA
World number one Iga Sventek will not play in the final of the Billie Jean King Cup, which will be held in Glasgow from 8 to 13 November.
The Polish athlete said that she would not be able to prepare for the tournament. Schwentek intends to perform at the Final tournament in Fort Worth, USA, which will end on November 7th. Schwentek said she would not be able to recover in such a short time between competitions, given the flight and jet lag.
The Polish athlete indicated that she had previously asked the organizers to optimize the calendar for important tournaments. However, the ITF, which hosts the Billie Jean King Cup, and the WTA, which hosts the Final Tournament, did not agree on dates that would be convenient for tennis players.
The Billie Jean King Cup will feature 12 teams. The Polish national team without Sventek will play in the group with the Czech Republic and the USA.
