Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation Alexei Selivanenko believes that the defeat Aslan Karatseva of the British Cameron Norrie at the ATP tournament in Stockholm due to the fact that the Russian of the current season lacks self-confidence.
Karatsev lost in the second round of the ATP tournament in Stockholm against Norrie with the score 7:6 (10:8), 3:6, 4:6. The match lasted 3 hours and 2 minutes.
– Aslan managed to snatch the first set in the tie-break, but, unfortunately, he could not consolidate the advantage further. Cameron is playing very well this year and to beat him, you have to be at your best throughout the game. Unfortunately, Aslan was not enough for a three-hour duel, although during the match he showed that he was capable of playing to win.
From the outside, it looks like Aslan this season lacks the confidence that he is ready to play to win with any opponent. The way he played almost all of last season. But the “second season problem” in tennis is well known. It’s always difficult to secure a take-off to the top of the world rankings, like Aslan did last year, a lot of people are dealing with it,” Selivanenko told RB Sport.
Karatsev, 29, has failed to break the second-round barrier for 11 consecutive tournaments.
