The duel with the eighth seeded Rus ended in a long tie-break
Ukrainian tennis player Katerina Beindl advanced to the second round of the series tournament ITF W100 in a spanish city Las Francesas dal Balles.
The Ukrainian beat the eighth seeded Arancia Rus from the Netherlands. The three-set duel lasted for two hours and 42 minutes.
Rus won the first set, but was unable to oppose Katerina in the second. The third party stretched for almost an hour and a half. Beindl pulled back three match-balls on her serve and moved the fight to a tie-break.
In the tennis lottery, the Ukrainian had the first opportunity to close the match, but twice in a row she could not apply for the match. In a tense ending, the Ukrainian played two more match-balls, and snatched the victory from her seventh attempt.
In the second round, Katerina will play with Yvonne Cavalier-Reimers. The Spaniard in the first match easily coped with Si Chung Hoon from Korea, giving her opponent only three games.
Recall that earlier another Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina sensationally lost the opening match and dropped out of the competition. The first racket of the tournament lost in three sets to wild card holder Andrea Lazaro Garcia.
