Sakkari and Sobolenko win fights on the first day of the WTA Finals

Lyudmila Kichenok in doubles will have her opening match on Tuesday

On the Final WTA Tournament the first matches in singles and doubles took place.

In “Nancy Ritchie” Maria Sakkari beat in two sets Jessica Pegula. Both times the fate of the game was decided in a tie-break, where the Greek tennis player was twice more successful. In the second match Arina Sobolenko defeated in three sets Ons Gill.

Pegula lost twice in one day. In doubles, the American, along with Coco Gauff, lost in three sets to the duet Xu Yifan / Yang Zhaoxuan. Last year’s champions Barbora Kreychikova and Kateryna Sinyakova defeated Desiree Krawczyk/Demi Schurs in their first match.

Ukrainian Ludmila Kichenok will have her first fight on Tuesday. In the Pam Shriver group, Lyudmila, together with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia, will meet with a pair of Veronika Kudermetova / Eliza Mertens.
