Kichenok and Ostapenko lost at the start of the final WTA doubles tournament

The Ukrainian-Latvian duo could not compete with their rivals in the competitions in American Fort Worth.

Lyudmila Kichenok, who, together with the Latvian Elena Ostapenko, is playing in the final WTA tournament these days, lost the opening match of the competition.

Well, the contest, held in the American city of Fort Worth, Texas, the Ukrainian-Latvian duet performs in the Pam Shriver group. In the first match, their rivals were Russian Veronika Kudermetova and Belgian Elise Mertens.

Kichenok and Ostapenko started the match well and confidently won the first set 6:3. However, in the second set Kudermetova-Mertens made a convincing revenge with a score of 6:1, and then in the third set, where one point was taken in each draw, they snatched a victory 10:6.

In the next group matches, Kichenok and Ostapenko will meet Gabriela Dabrowski (Canada) / Giuliana Olmos (Mexico) and Anna Danilina (Kazakhstan) / Beatriz Maia (Brazil).
