Jaber got a strong-willed victory over Pegula
Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari was the first to secure a place in the semi-final Final WTA Tournamentwhich continues in the American Fort Worth.
Sakkari confidently beat Arina Sobolenko in two sets. In one hour and 39 minutes, the Greek took five innings of her opponent at once. She made only 16 unforced errors, while Sobolenko had 29 of them at once.
Having won two matches (set difference 4-0), Sakkari was the first in the tournament to guarantee herself access to the semi-finals.
In another Nancy Ritchie group match, Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur won a strong-willed three-set victory over American Jessica Pegula.
This is Jaber’s first victory in the tournament and in the third round she will play against Sakkari. Pegula and Sobolenko will also meet at the finish of the group stage. Zhaber, Sobolenko and even Pegula, who has two defeats, still have chances for a second ticket to the playoffs.
