Spanish world number one Carlos Alcaraz announced that he had withdrawn from the quarter-finals of the Masters Series tournament in Paris due to a stomach injury.
On Friday, Alcaraz refused to continue the fight against Holger Rune for reaching the semi-finals of the competition with a score of 6:3, 6:6 (3:1) in favor of the Dane.
– At the end of the set, there was something wrong with the stomach. I felt bad and preferred to retire, get checked out and take care of my health.
In front of me is the last ATP tournament. I have to pass some tests to understand what condition I will be in before the competition in Turin. Right now I’m focused on getting my health back and trying to give my 100% in the tournament. When I turn the body, I feel pain in my stomach, because of this, I can’t serve well.
I feel pain in many movements. To play with the problems, it is better to withdraw from the match. This is the first time I have felt such pain, but I had problems in this area before,” Alcaraz told a press conference.
The last ATP tournament will take place from November 13 to 20 in Turin, Italy.
