Spanish world number one Carlos Alcaraz announced that he will miss the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) final tournament and the Davis Cup finals due to injury.
Alcaraz was unable to complete the quarter-final match of the Paris Masters with Dane Holger Rune on Friday. The Spaniard refused to continue the fight at the end of the second set. The final ATP tournament will take place from November 13-20 in Turin, the Davis Cup final from November 22-27.
– My diagnosis is a rupture of the internal oblique muscle of the abdominal wall, the estimated recovery time is six weeks. Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the final tournament of the ATP and the final of the Davis Cup. It’s hard and painful for me to miss these two important events for me, but all I can do is stay positive and focus on recovery. Thank you for your support,” the 19-year-old Spaniard wrote on his Twitter page.
Alcaraz’s place in the final tournament will be taken by American Taylor Fritz.
