Ukrainian paired with Olena Ostapenko reached the semi-finals at the WTA Finals
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok commented on her speech Final WTA Tournament in US Fort Worth.
“Honestly, I have such an interesting feeling, because it was the first time I played in this format. You are losing, but you still have chances to reach the semi-finals. To be honest, we did not hope for this when we lost the first two matches, but then it so happened that we went out. It is a pity that we lost, these were not our best matches this season. But this is tennis, this is a game, and we should be grateful for this season, for the fact that we finished the year in the top 8 of the best couples in the world.
“It was a little annoying that in the first days here I injured a muscle. I couldn’t fully train, but I played with tape, and everything was fine. But it got in the way a bit to train fully and do what we wanted to do.”
“Of course, it was very annoying to lose two matches in the subgroup. And in the semi-final we also had some chances that we lost. But I should be proud of how we finished this year in the top 8 couples in the world.”
Recall that Lyudmila Kichenok paired with Elena Ostapenko reached the semifinals at the WTA Finals.
In 2022, Lyudmila Kichenok, together with Ostapenko, became the winners of the WTA tournaments in Birmingham and Cincinnati. She won another title together with her sister Nadezhda Kichenok – in Tallinn.
