The Ukrainian tennis player said why the athletes had to be removed from the aggressor country.

Dayana Yastremskaya believes that Russian athletes should declare their public position on the war in Ukraine. In an interview with RMC Sport, the 22-year-old tennis player supported the decision to remove the aggressor country’s athletes from the competition.

“We are waiting for a public reaction from them. They must express their point of view. Hopefully tomorrow the athletes from Russia will break the silence. Even if their words are not enough, they need to speak in public. If not, we should not play against them in competitions.

What do I do if I encounter a player from Russia on or off the court? Nothing. I think they themselves should come to us and explain everything. If they are deaf to the suffering of Ukrainian citizens, they must pay for it, ”Yastremska said.
