Yastremskaya: Russian players should be completely disqualified

The starting tournament for the Ukrainian in the new year will be the Australian Open

Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya commented on the WTA-2022 season, recognizing it as unsuccessful. The athlete also spoke about the representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the Tour.

“The season was terrible. I understand and accept this. Terrible performance, terrible results. I understand that I can do better, I understand where I was in the ranking and that I can return there. I felt bad mentally, my health failed.

“I believe that Russian players should be completely disqualified. My position hasn’t changed.”

“In Tours we are in a neutral position. If they [российские и белорусские спортсменки] come up and ask something, then I can calmly answer. And I myself do not show initiative in communicating with them.

Yastremskaya and Katerina Beindl topped the reserve list for getting into the main draw of the Australian Open-2023. Qualifying matches will start in Melbourne on January 9th. The main part of the Australian Open 2023 will take place from 16 to 29 January.
