Former Serbian World No. 1 Novak Djokovic said he will never forget the events that happened to him before the Australian Open 2022.

Djokovic’s visa was canceled and he subsequently left the country.

Such events are impossible to forget. It’s one of those things that will stay with me forever. It’s something I’ve never experienced before and hope not to experience again, but it was a valuable life experience for me.

What happened 12 months ago was hard to digest at first. But at the same time, I needed to move on. These events take nothing away from what I experienced during my sporting career in Melbourne. So I came here with a positive attitude,” Djokovic said as quoted by Nu.nl.

Djokovic is 35 and has won 21 Grand Slam singles tournaments. The Serb has won the Australian Open 9 times.

The 2023 Australian Open will be held in Melbourne from January 16-29.
