Melbourne could lose the right to host the Australian Open, says tournament director

Australian Open director Craig Tiley has said that in the future the tournament may move from Melbourne.

The city’s contract to host the tournament runs until 2046. To hold australian open Sydney claims, and a group of Shanghai investors in China are also interested in the Grand Slam tournament.

— We have many interested parties who are ready to host the tournament. A possible transfer of the tournament to another city is under discussion. At the same time, it seems to me that the Australian Open should be held in Melbourne,” quotes Tylie Tennis World USA.

The Australian Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. In 1969 the tournament took on its current name and since 1972 it has been held in Melbourne.
