Ukrainian defeated Slovak Shmidlova in two sets
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko started with a victory ITF W60 tournament in Australian Canberra.
In 1 hour 47 minutes, Tsurenko beat the second seeded Anna Karolina Shmidlova from Slovakia. In the first set, the Ukrainian put the squeeze on her opponent only in a tie-break. And in the second game, Lesya took two serves from Shmidlova and confidently brought the matter to victory.
In the 1/8 finals, Tsurenko will play against Nigina Abduraimova from Uzbekistan.
Earlier, Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur made it to the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Canberra. In the first round match, Snigur defeated the fourth seeded Simone Waltert from Switzerland.
And here is another Ukrainian Katerina Beindl lost in the 1/16 finals of the tournament in Canberra. Beindl, who received the first seeding number, lost to Briton Heather Watson in 1 hour and 13 minutes.
