Angelina bypassed Svitolina after today’s victory
Angelina Kalinina will become the first racket of Ukraine after the WTA rating is updated next week.
Today Kalinina reached the second round of Roland Garros, which allowed Angelina to get around in real time in the ranking Elina Svitolina and rise to 35th place.
In January, Kalinina made her debut in the top 50 of the world ranking. The Ukrainian made her way into the first hundred last year.
Svitolina has not played since March 24, when she suffered a third defeat in a row, suspending her career indefinitely amid active hostilities in Ukraine.
In May, Svitolina announced her pregnancy. Elina and Frenchman Gael Monfils are expecting a baby girl due in October.
In the second round of Roland Garros, Kalinina will play against world No. 11 Jessica Pegula, whom she has lost twice since the beginning of the year in Melbourne and Miami.
In the event of reaching the third round, Kalinina will set a personal record at the Grand Slam tournaments, having previously reached the second round of Roland Garros and the US Open.
