The nationals will face the Europeans at La Serena between February 4 and 5.
Nicolás Massú’s side have already confirmed their names to face Kazakhstan in February. It will be a special Davis Cup, stuck in the middle of the South American ATP tour (February 4-5) that will define whether Chile will return to the group stage of the tournament finals.
And Massú spared nothing for this. The national team will go with Cristian Garin (85th), Alejandro Tabilo (100th), Nicolás Jarry (152nd), Tomás Barrios (230th) and Gonzalo Lama (261st) like faces, find a team that couldn’t be better by ranking.
The team confirmation also confirms that Garin and Tomás Barrios will once again defend the colors of Chile for the Davis Cup after a series against Peru which they were unable to attend due to injury. Six months after these matches in Lima, they will return the red jersey, this time to La Serena.
For the northerner, it will also be his first home series for more than six years. The last time they played on home soil for the Davis Cup was in 2016 when they played against the Dominican Republic in Santiago.
In the case of Barrios, his return brings oxygen to the double, since the chillanejo is a specialist in the discipline and has excellent relations with Alejandro Tabilo.
