Marta lost to Egyptian Sheriff in straight sets

Marta Kostyuk left the singles tournament Roland Garros following the results of the first round of the competition.

In the match of the 1/64 finals, the Ukrainian lost to the Egyptian Mayar Sheriff, who is nine positions ahead of Marta in the WTA world rankings.

In an hour and 39 minutes on the court, Kostyuk filed one ace, made five double faults and converted one breakpoint out of five.

Kostyuk also entered the Roland Garros doubles tournament, where she will perform in tandem with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

Marta’s best result on the courts of the French Open remains reaching the fourth round, where last year the Ukrainian woman lost to Iga Sventek.

Today Angelina Kalinina made her way to the second round of the tournament. Dayana Yastremskaya and Lesya Tsurenko failed to overcome the first round of the competition.
