Boris Becker’s new life: from prison hell to returning to his first love

The German -who has just been released from prison after eight months- will commentate on the first Grand Slam matches of the year for a European sports channel.

After spending eight months in prison, the German Boris Becker preparing to return to his first love: tennis. After serving half of the sentence imposed on him for hiding his assets and declaring bankruptcy to avoid paying debts, Becker will be one of the voices commentating on the Australian Open for a European sports network.

Every morning at the first Grand Slam of the year, the German will be a commentator for the Eurosport channel and will analyze the build-up to the tournament. In addition, he will have his own show, which will be called “Matchball Becker.”

Deported to Germany after serving his sentence in the UK, Becker is not in Australia. According to the newspaper Bildthe 55-year-old tennis player will remain in Munich and commentate on matches from a television studio.

In one of his most crude accounts of his time in prison, Becker tearfully admitted that he had received death threats in prison: “A prisoner named John told me that if I didn’t do certain things he would kill me, which I confirmed with the others. Fortunately, I had the support of three colleagues and then he apologized”.
