“It’s always better to win 6:0 than 7:6 playing nine set points” – Medvedev on the win over Ketsmanovich

Russian Daniel Medvedev was happy with his play in the second round match of the tournament in Adelaide against Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.

Medvedev, 26, won in straight sets (6:0, 6:3), taking the opener dry and spending just over an hour on the match. In the quarterfinals, the tennis player will meet another representative of Russia, Karen Khachanov.

“It’s always better to win 6-0 than 7-6 playing nine set points in a match that lasts an hour and twenty. But in tennis, not everything is so simple, so everyone would be the first number in the ranking, and he is only one. I am satisfied with today’s level in the match against a strong opponent. The second set was more difficult, but I managed to win and now I’m looking forward to the next matches.

In fact, I don’t remember exactly where we played with Khachanov last time. We have both changed a lot. He is a very strong opponent who can defeat anyone. Today he beat Jack Draper, a young man at the dawn of his career, so it will be a tough match,” Medvedev was quoted as saying by the ATP press service.

The quarter-final meeting between Medvedev and Khachanov will take place on Friday, January 6.
