The organizers of the Australian Open-2023 did not remove Russian and Belarusian tennis players from the tournament. Athletes from aggressor countries were allowed to compete under a neutral flag. This was reported by the Tennis Federation of Australia.

“Players from Russia and Belarus can participate in international tennis competitions individually – without flags and nationalities, which will happen in the case of the Australian Open 2023.

The Australian Tennis Federation continues to support Ukraine, its community and players, in particular through the Tennis Plays for Peace global initiative, which includes a charity event prior to the Australian Open.

It will be remembered that the first Grand Slam tournament of the season will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 16 to 29 January. Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia urged the organizers not to allow the Russians to compete.

It was previously reported that a series of charity matches will be held at the Australian Open to raise money for Ukraine.
