The Ukrainian, together with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia, defeated the duet Ekaterina Alexandrova / Zhang Shuai. The tense duel lasted almost two hours.
In the first set Kichenok and Ostapenko lost. In the second game, Lyudmila and Elena played two match points and won in a tie-break. The decisive super tie-break was also won by the Ukrainian and Latvian.
Recall that in the first match at the tournament in Adelaide, Kichenok and Ostapenko defeated Americans Caitlin Christian and Sabrina Santamaria. In the semi-finals, Lyudmila and Elena will play with another US representative, Ajay Muhammad and Taylor Townsend.
