The former Japanese world number one Naomi Osaka will not play at the Australian Open, according to the tournament’s Twitter page.
Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open. She will be missed at the 2023 tournament.
The place of the Japanese in the main draw will be occupied by the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.
Osaka won the Australian Open in 2019 and 2021. Last season, the 25-year-old tennis player reached the third round.
The Melbourne Grand Slam tournament will be held from January 16-29.
