Dayana became the fourth Ukrainian to play in the main draw of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya will play in main grid the first Grand Slam of the season Australian Open.
Yastremska was first on the reserve list and took the place of Japan’s Naomi Osaka, who withdrew from the tournament. The two-time winner of the Australian Open, Osaka, did not manage to recover by the start of the tournament. The Japanese woman played her last match back in September.
Earlier, Katerina Beindl received a place in the main draw of the Australian Open-2023.
Beindl and Yastremska joined two other Ukrainians, Angelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk, who went straight into the 2023 Australian Open main draw.
Recall that Lesya Tsurenko, Daria Snigur and Katarina Zavatskaya are preparing for the selection for the Australian Open-2023.
Qualifying matches will start in Melbourne on January 9th. The main part of the Australian Open 2023 will take place from 16 to 29 January.
