Djokovic spoke about the injury which prevented him from finishing the match with Medvedev

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic said he decided to call off a friendly match with Russian Daniil Medvedev because he was feeling discomfort in his thigh and didn’t want to take any risks before the start of the Australian Open.

The match took place on Wednesday night on center court at the Australian Open in Melbourne. During the match, Djokovic requested a medical time-out three times and eventually lost the first set with the score 4:6. The Serb refused to continue the game due to injury.

“I had trouble with my hamstrings in Adelaide last week. I just felt uncomfortable and didn’t want to take any chances. I played a set and presented him my apologies (Medvedev), and he understood. I just want to avoid big risks before the Australian Open, — quotes the words of Djokovic 9News.

The Australian Open main draw will take place from January 16-29 in Melbourne.
