British tennis player Emma Radukanu reacted to former Russia coach’s statement Dmitry Tursunov who said last year that the 2021 US champion needed to listen to one person’s opinion.
After Wimbledon 2021, Radukanu parted ways with Nigel Sears and joined Andrew Richardson, whose services she also turned down, despite winning the US Open. Richardson was replaced in November by Torben Beltz, whose cooperation ended in April this year. And in July, Tursunov became the coach of the British, with whom she broke up in October.
“I think because of the way I was raised, there were always a lot of people around me. I just choose more what I want to take and what I refuse. I really don’t think it’s anything extraordinary. He [Турсунов] can say what he thinks.
I think part of it (the frequent change of coaches) is because I didn’t have a small spine. I didn’t have such a reliable team that I would trust completely. This year I feel like I definitely have it, so I probably don’t need a wide range of advisers anymore,” Radukan said as quoted by the Telegraph.
Now the 20-year-old tennis player is collaborating with Sebastian Sachs.
