Australian Open: Kostyuk and Kalinina go further, Tsurenko and Yastremskaya do not

The first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season began in Melbourne, Australia.

Not all Ukrainian tennis players made it to the first round of the Australian Open-2023. It should be noted that by the will of a blind lot, all five of our representatives in the main draw have already played on the first day of the tournament.

The first and second racket of Ukraine – respectively Angelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk, without any problems passed their rivals in the opening match – the representatives of the United States. Kalinina defeated Coco Vandewey, and Kostyuk defeated Amanda Anisimova.

At the same time, Lesya Tsurenko and Dayana Yastremskaya left the contest. Tsurenko could not compete with Czech Karolina Muchova, and Yastremska could not compete with Latvian tennis player Alena Ostapenko.
