Ukrainian for the first time will fight with a player from the top 30
Ukrainian tennis player Alexey Krutykh shared his impressions of the upcoming debut in the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament. In the first round Australian Open 2023 Ukrainian will play with the 25th racket of the world Diego Schwartzman from Argentina.
“As for the draw, I didn’t really look with whom it was possible to play the first rounds. I saw that I was playing against Schwartzman, that’s all. That was enough for me. In fact, it didn’t matter to me who to play with, the main thing was to go out and show good tennis.”
“The game plan with Schwartzman is not to lose. And there already how it will turn out. I constantly called up my coach, who helps me. I think I’ll call him closer to the match and we’ll think about how to play against Diego.”
“Everyone told me that the Australian Open is the best organized tournament among all Slams. Well, for now, I can really say that I have not yet been to a better tournament both in terms of organization and in general in all respects. We already crossed paths with all Ukrainian players here. Some I didn’t know before, so it was nice to meet you. I hope they all show good tennis here and stay in this tournament.”
Alexei will play against a tennis player from the top 30 of the world ranking for the first time. The first racket of Ukraine occupies the 188th line of the ATP rating.
The duel between Krutykh and Schwartzman will open the competitive program of the second day of the Australian Open-2023. The match is scheduled to start at 02:00 on Tuesday night Kyiv time.
