Ukrainian beat Kamilla Rakhimova in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Katerina Beindl won the opening match of the first Grand Slam of the season Australian Open 2023.
Beindl defeated Kamilla Rakhimova in 2 hours and 50 minutes. In the starting set, the Ukrainian won back from the score 1:3, and in the second set she herself could not keep the advantage, leading 4:2. At the tie-break, Katerina missed two match points. With the score 3:0 in the decisive set, Rakhimova took a medical taum-out due to problems with her hip.
Ukrainian for the first time in five years of performances in the main draw of the Australian Open won. Beindl will then face the winner of the match between Laura Pigossi (Brazil) and Cathy McNally (USA).
