Tennis player Zverev says he tore not three, but seven ankle ligaments in Roland Garros semi-final

German tennis player Alexander Zverev announced he tore seven ankle ligaments in the 2022 Roland Garros semi-final.

Zverev was injured in June in the Roland Garros semi-final with Spaniard Rafael Nadal and left the court in a wheelchair. The 25-year-old tennis player’s recovery took seven months.

– It has always been reported that three ligaments were torn. But they were seven, three of whom were operated on. I was not informed that fluid had accumulated in the bone marrow, I started rehabilitation and training too early, which made the swelling worse.

It is clear that in my current state, I will not win the Australian Open. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t find my form after one or two matches. Then self-confidence will increase, and then we will see, — quotes Zverev Blick.

Zverev will face Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas in the first round of the Australian Open.
