“If it made it easier for everyone, then that’s good.” Arina Sabolenko on banning the Belarusian and Russian flags at the Australian Open

Belarusian tennis player Arina Sobolenko Commenting on Australian Open organizers’ decision to ban Russian and Belarusian flags from the tournament stands, said the sport should be out of politics.

The Australian Tennis Federation (Tennis Australia) announced on Tuesday the banning of the flags of Russia and Belarus from the Australian Open.

– As I said, tennis and sports in general have nothing to do with politics. But if it made it easier for everyone, then everything is in order.

I can’t control it. What can I say ? They decided so – so there are no flags. Alright,” Sobolenko said at a press conference.

The Australian Open started on January 16 and will end on January 29.
