Another Ukrainian tennis player reached the 1/16th finals in the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Katerina Beindl followed Angelina Kalinina into the third round of the Australian Open. To do this, the Ukrainian had to defeat the American Cathy McNally.
Note that the representative of the United States was initially considered the favorite of the match. However, Bindl showed at the outset that this was not the case. Having made two breaks in the first set, the Ukrainian took the game 6:1 in just 27 minutes.
But McNally, recovering, gave the Ukrainian a match in the second set. The American held on to every ball and responded to his break with the opponent’s break. As a result, the strongest in the second game was determined only by a tie-break, which Bindl won with a score of 7:4.
During the one hour and 45 minutes spent on the court, the Ukrainian served once, and also made three doubles and 26 unforced errors.

It will be remembered that earlier in the third round of the Grand Slam tournaments for the first time in her career, another Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina passed.
