Won in straight sets against Hozumi and Zidansek
Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina came out in second round in doubles on Australian Open 2023.
Kalinina, paired with Alison van Uytvank from Belgium, defeated the duet of Eri Hozumi/Tamara Zidansek (Japan/Slovenia) in two sets. In the first game, a Ukrainian and a Belgian won in a tie-break. And in the second set they put the squeeze on their rivals, making two breaks at the beginning.
Kalinina and van Uytvank made their debut joint match. For the Ukrainian, this is the second performance in the Australian Open doubles. Last year, she, along with Varvara Gracheva, lost in the first round.
The next opponents of Angelina and Alison will be determined in the match between Anna Danilina/Sania Mirza (Kazakhstan/India, 8) and Dalma Galfi/Bernard Pera (Hungary/USA).
Recall that three more Ukrainians will play in the women’s doubles of the Australian Open-2023.
In singles Australian Open-2023 Kalinina reached the third round, beating Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic.
