Beat Danilina and Mirza in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina made it to the 1/8 finals doubles on Australian Open 2023.
In the 1/16 finals, Angelina, paired with Alison van Uytvank from Belgium, defeated Anna Danilina and Sania Mirza in three sets. The match lasted just over two hours.
Kalinina and van Uytvank won the first game with a break in the tenth game. But in the second set they could not keep the advantage, leading with a score of 3:0. In the final set, the tennis players were also ahead 3:0, the rivals managed to reduce the gap to a minimum, but after that Angelina and Alison won three games in a row.
Angelina will play in the third round of doubles for the first time at the Grand Slam tournament. The next opponents of Kalinina and van Uytvank will be the duo Zhan Haoqing / Yang Zhaoxuan (Chinese Taipei / China, 11).
Recall that in the first round of doubles, Kalinina and van Uytvank passed the duet of Eri Hozumi / Tamara Zidansek (Japan / Slovenia).
In singles, Angelina failed to reach the 1/8 finals, losing to Barbora Kreychikova from the Czech Republic.
