Ukrainian Zimnokh won his debut victory at the junior Australian Open

Andrew beat the Australian Jones in three sets

17-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Andrey Zimnokh won in the opening match of the main draw junior tournament Australian Open-2023.

Zimnoch, who played at the Junior Grand Slam for the first time, beat Australian Hayden Jones in three sets. The fight lasted 2.5 hours during which Zimnokh served eight aces, made six double faults, lost one game on his serve and made four breaks.

In the second round, the Ukrainian will play against his peer from the Czech Republic, Yakub Filip.

Andriy Zimnokh ranks third in the national junior ranking and 115th in the ITF Juniors world classification.

Earlier, Ukrainian Volodymyr Yakubenko could not overcome the first round of the junior Australian Open-2023 tournament, losing in three sets to the Frenchman Thiago Pires.
