Karen Khachanov played great matches at the Australian Open, showing quality tennis, said Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Vice President Alexei Selivanenko.
In the 1/8 final, Khachanov defeated Japan’s Yoshito Nishioka with the score 6:0, 6:0, 7:6 (7:4).
– Reaching the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam always means a lot. Karen had three great matches, showing very high quality tennis. There’s not much to discuss the first two sets today, Nishioka himself missed them. But in the third set, when the struggle had already begun, Karen was picked up and led the match to victory, Selivanenko told the “Championship”.
For a place in the semi-finals, the Russian will fight with 22-year-old American Sebastian Korda (29).
