Rublev’s performances have been inconsistent over the past few months, scoring 14 wins in 21 matches since advancing from the quarter-finals to the 2022 US Open. The Dane kicked off his Australian TBSH campaign with a victory over Filip Krajinovic in the first round and continued the momentum with powerful plays against Maxime Cressy and Hugo Humbert en route to the fourth. Rune beat Frenchman Humbert in two hours and nine minutes 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(5) to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career.
Rune leads in head-to-head matchups against Rublev 1-0. More recently, he beat him at the Paris Masters 2022 – 6-4, 7-5.
