Orest Tereshchuk appointed captain of the national team
Ukrainian Tennis Federation announced the composition of the national team for the playoff match of the First World Group Davis Cup vs Lebanon.
Ukraine will be represented in the match confrontation Alexander Ovcharenko (378th place in the ATP ranking), Vladislav Orlov (387th), Vyacheslav Belinsky (619th), Ilya Beloborodko (832nd) and Vladislav Manafov (142nd position in the pairs ranking). For Ovcharenko, this will be his debut for the blue and yellow team.
Appointed team captain Orest Tereshchukwho will replace Andrei Medvedev. Previously, he worked with the national team in the period 2008-2012 (five wins in nine matches).
Note that the match with Lebanon will be missed by the first and second rackets of Ukraine Oleksiy Krutykh (188th place) and Vitaliy Sachko (340th), as well as Ilya Marchenko (412th).
The match between the national teams of Ukraine and Lebanon will be held on February 3-4 in the Polish city of Leszno. The winner of the showdown in September will play for the right to qualify for the Davis Cup final, while the loser will go down to the Davis Cup World Group II.
In September 2022, Ukraine in Vilnius lost in a match against Hungary (1:3) in the fight for a ticket to the 2022 Davis Cup final qualification.
