Athletistic / Tennis. Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev commented on Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev’s victory in the Australian Open 4th round match. The representative of Russia in the hardest duel defeated Dane Holger Rune.

“By logic, I should have won earlier, but such a victory is a big plus. You grow in such matches. Now we have to recover and wait for the opponent,” TASS said, citing Tarpishchev.

Rublev reacted emotionally as he reached the Australian Open quarter-finals

The meeting turned out to be dramatic. The opponents spent 3 hours and 38 minutes on the pitch. The final score is 6:3, 3:6, 6:3, 4:6, 7:6 (11:9). In the fifth set, Rublev played two match points. And on the super tie-break it was less than 0:5. Nevertheless, the representative of Russia managed to snatch victory.

In the quarter-finals of the tournament, Rublev will meet former Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic.
