President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev urged not to pay attention to calls for a fine from a Russian Karena Khachanova for supporting the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh (Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh).
Khachanov, after reaching the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open, wrote on the camera: “Artsakh, hold on!!!” (“Artsakh, stay strong!!!”). The Azerbaijan Tennis Federation has asked the International Tennis Federation to punish the Russian tennis player.
– Yes, all this makes no sense, do not pay attention. His statements… Now they hang on to us all the time. You don’t have to give a reason, that’s all,” Tarpischev told KP Sport.
